13 Forest Gallery is turning 20 and to celebrate they have paired artists to collaborate on work for the show Tandem. Here is what the gallery says:

13FOREST Gallery is proud to present Tandem, a group exhibition of collaborative work celebrating twenty years of 13FOREST.

This year 13FOREST Gallery has reached a milestone twentieth anniversary. In 2006 we opened our doors on Forest Street in Medford Square, and two years later moved to our current location in Arlington. Our mission has always been to magnify New England’s finest contemporary artists. Though our practice has grown and changed, our commitment to lifting up local artists and serving our community of art lovers has never wavered.

One of the most rewarding aspects of our long-running practice is the relationships we have cultivated with and between our artists. Working together on thematic exhibitions and events, they have produced incredibly exciting and moving work. To commemorate this important year, we have curated Tandem as a collaborative exhibition to highlight these relationships and celebrate the breadth of our artists’ creativity. Artists were organized into pairs, some who had worked together before and others who had known each other only in passing, to collaborate on a piece for the show. Each group of artists has taken a unique approach to their partnership, making work that is unified thematically, stylistically or literally, as some groups chose to merge their practices into a single work. As always, we were blown away by the talent and passion of our artists, and honored that they would work on this ambitious project with us.

13FOREST would not be what it is today without the incredible artists who show with us, but we also would not have made it to this remarkable anniversary without the support and enthusiasm of our community. Sharing the work of our artists, educating about their techniques, and finding people who love their art as much as we do is an immense joy. Tandem is a thank you to everyone who has helped us reach our twentieth year.
